New Autohaus VW Crafter Campervan Model Coming Soon!
During the 2015 NEC Campervan & Motorhome Show we were approached by Volkswagen and asked, as one of their approved campervan conversion companies, to develop a new campervan based upon the VW Crafter.
The VW Crafter is Volkswagens largest van and the new conversion will offer customers a more spacious interior compared to the VW Transporter; incorporating many of the features found on our Autohaus Kingston Model.
We will shortly be receiving a Crafter Test Body from VW allowing us to put the new campervan through Type Approval, a process which ensures the conversion work does not affect the structural integrity of the vehicle.
This is something we do for all of our campervan models and we are one of very few companies in the UK to invest in this level of safety. The process involves taking an empty shell of the vehicle, making the conversion changes (drilling holes in the floor, cutting out windows, etc) and then load testing the structure.
The exact layout of the new model has yet to be decided but we’ll be sure to post photos once we begin production. In the meantime we’ll be thinking of a new name for the model… no doubt following in the same style as our other models by being named after variety of apples!
