A Recap Of The 2017 NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show
After another successful week was had at the NEC Motorhome and Caravan Show we are now back in the workshops, replying to enquiries and processing orders for the coming months. To say we are busy is an understatement!
This year we chose to take 5 vans along and just about managed to squeeze them onto our stand… although next year we are going to need a bigger pitch! (Please take note NCC… after 3 years of asking… we need a bigger pitch!).
We had the latest versions of the very popular range, the very eye-catching GOLD Spartan, the high-top Camelot, plus two brand new models; the Autohaus Evolution with its stunning Aluminium Furniture and the spacious Fiat Ducato Kingston. Our entry level Ashton `94 also continued to generate a lot of interest.
Over the years we have been humbled by the number of customers who come to the stand, just to say Hello and wish us well, and this year was no exception. We also had lots of new customers who, after walking around the halls, came back to our stand and expressed that we are producing the finest campervans on the market. We’re really grateful for the feedback and reassured that our desire to continually develop our campervans is being recognised by the people who matter most.
And it seems that this has reflected in the sheer number of orders that we took. Even in the first 2 days we had exceeded the number of order from the previous year (including an order for 25 Kingston’s from Three Counties Motorhomes). And since returning we’ve received lots of messages via our website from new customers wishing to visit our workshops and finalise the specification for their new campervans.
Just as well then that we have invested in lots of new equipment and are in the process of building a new factory – 3 times bigger than our existing workshops. Once we get the green light from the council we look forward to expanding production and bringing out more developments that we have waiting in the sidelines.
Some of these developments are already in process and we look forward to releasing some new models in the new year.
- Camelot Grandi – Following the success of the VW T6 Camelot Grandi we are now building a new version based upon the larger VW Crafter Van. Crash testing has already been completed and the first model will shortly be in the process of being built. Once this has been passed by the VCA the model will be available for sale in Spring 2018. (Find more details here)
- Merribel Landseeker – The Rolls Royce of campervans. The sunseeker of the road, our new sister company Merribel Motors Ltd will be producing luxury campervans based upon larger vans and the Ford Transit. Be sure to keep an eye on our website and Facebook page to hear of the latest developments.
Interview With The Caravan Times
During our time at the show Chris was interviewed by the Caravan Times, an online community and news source for fans of all things motorhome related, to speak about our bespoke Campervan Conversions. Throughout the video are shots of our five show vans including our newest campervan model the ‘Ashton Evolution’. You can see Chris’ video debut below.
Special Appearance From Tim Shaw
And finally of course we can’t forget to mention what a pleasure it was to Car SOS’s Tim Shaw on our stand over the weekend. Tim bought a campervan from us recently and was a real hit with customers, chatting about the show, campervans and taking selfies.
If you had a photo taken with Tim please be sure to share it with us on our Facebook page and we’ll feature you in this blog post.
So thanks again to everyone who came to the show, both existing customers and new, and we warmly welcome you all to the Autohaus family.
